I'm not going to lie, it's been a little hectic here with my three kids home all the time and my husband still working full time. Having to teach three different grades to three different children is not easy but I found it best to break up the school work with games and play time outside to give the kids and me a much needed break. There are only so many games you can play though and when it's raining, playing outside isn't an option. So on one particularly rainy and cold day I decided to treat myself and my girls with a spa day while I let my youngest play with our new puppy. I wanted to walk you through our day so you can recreate it for yourself or for you and your kids too, because lets me honest, we could all use some ideas and a little self-care right about now.
Set the scene - First you want to make it feel like a spa in your home, so I put on some zen music (the spa treatment playlist on Spotify is great). I also put some essential oils in the diffuser and lit candles all around.
Spa Treatments - Once the scene is set you can get into the fun part. We started by running a bubble bath, put our bathing suits on and all got in the tub together. If you are doing this with your kids and you don't have a big enough tub, doing the baths one by one works just as well. If you really want to get crazy you can take a hot bath followed by a cold shower. Next we put on face masks and hand masks and let them sit for about 20 minutes. For our face we used this one by Lush but you can also make your own from ingredients that you probably already have in the house. For our hands we used the mask that I created a couple a weeks ago to help with dryness. After washing the masks off and putting lotion on, I then gave us all manicures (really I just painted our nails but in these times that counts as a manicure).
It was a really nice way to have some mother daughter time and it killed a few hours while I also got to practice some self-care. My girls are actually begging to do this again so it was a definite success. We could all use a spa day at this point so give yourself this gift, you deserve it!
