After months of not being able to go to a salon, I decided it was time for my hair to get some love. I knew I wanted to do a hair mask that would help with damaged hair and promote growth, but I also didn't want to order something online and wait for who knows how long for it to be delivered. So I decided to see what I had around the house to create a DIY hair mask of my own. I wound up using eggs, lemon, olive oil, and coconut milk. Egg has a lot of benefits for the hair. It prevents breakage, promotes hair growth, gives hair a glossy shine, and prevents hair loss. While the lemon maintains a healthy scalp due to its anti-fungal properties. It also boosts collagen production and unclogs hair follicles. Coconut milk is also an antibacterial which keeps the scalp healthy by keeping bad bacteria away, as well as promotes growth, and conditions the hair. Lastly, olive oil conditions, treats split ends, and promotes growth.
To make it, all you do is mix one egg, about a tsp of lemon juice, 2 tbsp olive oil and ½ - 1 cup of coconut milk (depending on hair length) together until well combined. Then massage into the scalp and hair and leave on for at least 20 minutes. Rinse out well with cool water so that the egg doesn't cook and then shampoo and condition as usual.
My hair came out so soft and shiny. It also gave me a lot of volume so I will definitely be using this again. I recommend doing it about once or twice a month. Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
