Happy Cinco de Mayo! In honor of it falling on a Tuesday this year, we thought it would only be appropriate to give you the best taco recipe so you can celebrate with a taco Tuesday. Tacos are easy to make and yet they are one of the most delicious foods ever. However, most of the taco seasoning packets that are sold have some really gross ingredients in it. So we are going to walk you through an easy seasoning mix that you can make at home that is just as good and makes for some really delicious tacos.
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 ½ tsp cumin
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1 Red onion
½ cup apple cider vinegar (ACV)
I lb ground meat (I usually use grass fed beef or free range turkey but it's up to you)
1 cup water
Siete grain free tortillas
1 cup chopped lettuce (romaine or iceberg works best)
1 cup diced tomatoes
1 avocado mashed
1 cup Violife shredded cheese (I use vegan cheese but if you do well with real cheese use that)
1 cup salsa
Put all ingredients into a bowl and stir until well combined
Cut onion in half and then thinly slice to create halved onion rings.
Put onions and ACV into an airtight container and fill with water until the onions are covered.
Seal and leave in a dry warm place for at least 2 hours and up to 8 hours.
Store in the refrigerator
Brown ground meat in a skillet over medium high heat, stirring frequently.
Once meat is light brown in color, strain any liquid out of the skillet and return to the burner.
Add taco seasoning and water and stir until well combined.
Cook until water is almost completely reduced.
Toast tortillas in the oven at 360 degrees to the desired crispiness
Lay tortilla on a plate and top with all desired taco ingredients.
Fold and enjoy
Pair these tacos with our spicy margarita and you will have the perfect Cinco de Mayo fiesta. Bon Appetit!
