I love Kapotasana, or Pigeon pose because the benefits are so powerful. It’s a deep hip opener with so much potential to release physically, energetically and emotionally. Watching the softness and ease on my students faces as they slowly make their way out of pigeon is one of those “this is why I teach yoga” moments. I recommend this pose to ALMOST everyone. Blankets and blocks can help support, modify and make this pose accessible. There are times when it’s just not happening and THAT’S OK!
Welcome Supta Kapotāsana
Sometimes it’s not about modifying and supporting, because even with supports it may still not be accessible. In those cases, I recommend this pose. We just need to change the shape in order to still be able to enjoy all the hip opening benefits.
