The Best Avocado Toast Recipe


One of my absolute favorite recipes for breakfast, lunch, or dare I say brunch is avocado toast. I got hooked a long time ago when I was living in California and have become somewhat of a connoisseur. Once I love something like that I always work to recreate it at home and make it more of my own. So I have come up with the absolute best avocado toast recipe. Be careful when trying this because it is addicting. I am including some of my favorite products for making this but if you have a favorite brand by all means use that. I also have celiac disease so the bread is gluten free but if you can eat gluten, please go for a really good sourdough slice from a bakery and know that I am jealous.


Ingredients:

1 egg

1/2 tbsp vegan butter or olive oil

1 slice good quality gluten free bread

1/2 avocado

sauerkraut according to taste

sprinkle of cayenne pepper

drizzle of olive oil

Himalayan salt according to taste

Optional - chopped cilantro, jalapeno


Directions:

Toast bread (the crunchier the better)

Heat butter in a small skillet over medium heat until it sizzles

Crack egg and carefully slide it into the skillet

Cook 5-7 minutes until the yoke has thickened and the whites are set

While egg cooks mash half an avocado with salt to taste

Drizzle the toast with olive oil

Spread the mashed avocado with salt onto the bread

Sprinkle a small amount of cayenne pepper over the avocado

Spoon sauerkraut on top of the cayenne

Add cooked egg on top of the sauerkraut

Sprinkle with salt to taste

Optional: add thinly sliced jalapeño and chopped cilantro
