The Secret To waking up Feeling Refreshed and Energized


I have been working on my daily cycles recently and trying to get a good routine going to keep my circadian rhythms in check. I decided to really work on this after learning from Stasia about her beauty sleep routine and after one particularly brutal night when I didn't fall asleep and was up reading until 8am. I honestly think that after years and years of bartending my body clock has been so disrupted that it can go out of whack in the blink of an eye. So I have been getting into bed by 10 every night and was trying to wake up early, but every morning when my alarm would go off I would still feel exhausted and would just keep hitting snooze a million times. I couldn't understand why I was having so much difficulty waking up when I was going to bed so much earlier. Enter a holistic dentist I started following on instagram who was talking about mouth tape while you slept. At first I thought it sounded crazy to tape your mouth shut at night but after I researched it on my own I decided to try it out for myself, and let me tell you the results have been incredible.


First let me tell you about why it's important to breathe out of your nose, especially when you are sleeping. When we breathe out of our mouth it obstructs the airways, which prevents you from getting a good night sleep and feeling rested upon waking. When we breathe through our nose on the other hand, it allows us to more easily get into that deep sleep state where our body is able to restore and repair. We also wake up feeling more rested when we get more of that deep sleep cycle. Nose breathing also improves immune function and it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system which in turn slows our heart rate and improves digestion among other benefits. Because we are meant to breathe out of our noses, when we do the airflow is directed to specific areas that maximize oxygen and allows the body to function properly.


After reading the research behind this mouth taping thing, I was pretty sold on trying it out. I found some tape that is made specifically for taping your mouth when you sleep and ordered it immediately. The very first night I used it, I woke up an hour before my alarm went off and felt amazing. I thought maybe it was just a coincidence so I waited before I gave a verdict on the mouth tape, however, night after night I have gotten the same results. I have now been doing it consistently for two weeks and I feel amazing. I wake up feeling so refreshed and don't even need an alarm. I actually can't believe that something so simple could have made such a difference. The only time I didn't wake up feeling great was after eating some food that I know doesn't work well with me, and the morning I got my monthly cycle. So overall I am really really impressed.


I have now recommended this to all of my friends and honestly if i could, I would buy it for everyone I know. I think you could even use regular tape if you wanted to, but I wanted to use one that was specifically made for your face to prevent any irritation. Honestly, I just want you all to feel as good as I do so use whatever you want. Try it out for a week and let me know how you do.
